Talking Like I’m Falling Down Stairs – lyrics

Hello.

I’ve received some lyrics requests for the latest single…

Here they are…

Tongue – tied
Talking to my feet
When there’s nothing better than self-defeat
I stop – stall
Try to stand tall
When whatever I say means nothing at all

I walk
Through all the steps (in my head)
It made more sense (in my head)
Plain and simple I can’t keep climbing…

I try to find the words but they won’t surrender
So I lie to you and say that I don’t remember…

Singing like a hurricane
Dancing like Fred Astaire
Walking like a young John Wayne
I’m talking like I’m falling downstairs…

Stut-ter
Mutter to myself
That you can’t quote something from someone else
I duck – swerve
Lose my nerve
It‘s on the tip of my tongue so just give me the words and

I’ll walk
Through all the steps (in my head)
Makes more sense (in my head)
plain and simple I can’t keep climbing…

I try to find the words but they won’t surrender
So I lie to you and say that I don’t remember…

….Singing like a hurricane
Dancing like Fred Astaire
Walking like a young John Wayne
I’m talking like I’m falling downstairs…

  1. YOU are the man! ))

Thanks a lot. It will be just next song I’ll make a cover of ^^

p.s. I’m sorry if asking a lot of questions… on ‘wiki’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparkadia) it is said that an album will come out in early 2011. Half a year? Really?

  2. Please put this track up on iTunes store I want to buy it!

  3. Hey dan,

    that’s the biz of show…

  4. Hi!
Such a lovely song – was it inspired by an Andrew Denton interview with Michael Parkinson?

  5. What a beautiful song! Where can I download it from? Itunes doesn’t have it yet 😦

  6. Best. Lyrics. Ever.

  7. Just wondering what is the meaning of “im talking like im falling downstairs”

  8. im just wondering if the piano in the chorus is originally from an older song?

  9. I love this song, the lyrics are amazing 🙂
Definitely coming to see you guys perform with Little Red at the Forum!

  10. Can’t believe I heard one of you guys say on triple j, that you thought this would be a b side and were surprised it got any attention, let alone made the album.
This song has everything – lyrics so easily identifiable by the all the romantics cluxes of this world ( and there’s plenty of them!). The music supporting the song, brillant, making sounds like the little steps you take as a young (and maybe not so young person), that paint a portrait of someone finding their way through their life ( and as it happens in life – falling down every now and then). Needless to say I love it – I so hope it gets airplay and the recognition it deserves on a world wide basis.
